Other Useful Information
PE:
PE days are Wednesday and Friday and we require your PE kit to be in school every day. You can take PE kit home on a Friday to be washed ready for the following week.
Outdoor Learning:
On a Thursday afternoon, half the class will do outdoor learning, and the other half will do their JDO project. They will then swap the following week. To ensure every child can take part in outdoor learning, please ensure your child brings their outdoor learning kit every Thursday. Children should arrive in school in school uniform as usual but with outdoor learning clothes in a bag. This includes bringing long sleeved tops and full-length trousers (Not football kit). They will need to bring a change of clothing including socks, underwear and trainers, to ensure they remain warm during the colder Winter months! Don't forget a hat and sunscreen in the hot summer months. Children will change when necessary, depending on the nature of the activity. Not all outdoor activities require a change of clothes.
Water Bottles:
The children should have a clearly named water bottle in the classroom. This should be a different bottle from their lunch drink and should be WATER only. The bottles should be taken home daily.
Reading:
Reading takes places at the end of every day, and once the children have completed a book they can take an Accelerated Reader Quiz to check for understanding. This term children will be bringing home a reading record to record all the reading they do at home and school. It must be brought into school EVERY DAY. The children also have an opportunity to read aloud to an adult and we ask that you also listen to your child read at home.
Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check:
Your child will be participating in the multiplication tables check in June, a parents guide can be found below. We will practice our times tables in class using Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS). We kindly ask for children to practice as much as possible using TTRS or Times Table Games.

How you can help support your child's learning:
- Promote a love of reading and read regularly at home
- Encourage a growth mindset and a can-do attitude. The power of ‘yet’!
- Working maths into every-day life – counting out money at the shop, telling the time, helping to weigh and measure ingredients etc
- Complete the maths homework and practice any times tables your child still does not know.
- Ask your child about their learning.
